ANOTHER DO NOT DO THIS
Hey Byran.... I can blast a couple holes in the new one for ya!
With those big funky shaped holes in the EG shields, I can probably use a 9mm or .40.....

Bryan, save those pieces! They make great gasket scrapers and won't damage aluminum! You can sharpen them up on a grinder and get after it.You can also make windshield scrapers for all your trucks!!!

If anybody's interested, you can drill holes in the stuff the same way you drill holes in gelcoat on boats (to install wakeboard towers and such). Start with a pilot bit over a taped-off mark. DRILL BACKWARDS VERY SLOWLY. If you do not go backwards, the leading edge of the bit's cutting surface can cause small fractures that turn into...you guessed it...cracks.
Unfortunately, my buddy and I found this out the hard way on a boat (good thing HE won the coin toss, which meant we installed the tower on his boat first). Add a little Google, and voila! Somebody smarter than me on a boat board clued us in.
p.s. - this method takes a hell of a lot longer, but AIN'T NO CRACKS IN THE SECOND BOAT!!!

Bryan sorry to hear about your mishap. But take comfort in how much you help the rest of us that would have made the same error. I'll chip in a beer to help offset your teaching aid expenses.
Bryan TTM,
Did you find out whether theClear View was made of Heat molded cast acrylic? Lexan ( and other ploycarbonate) sheet is not cast, but extruded. Thermoplastic acrylics (Plexiglas and other) are heat cast. They are able to be heat bent and blow molded. I worked with Exhibits for a National Museum in DC for 29 years. If you are going to cut or drill acrylic, regrind your bit to act as a scraper, but be careful of heat buildup. Drill a at slow speed. Never use anthing containing any alcohol afterwards. Without proper annealing in an oven, crazing or aligatoring will occur and can cause shatter. We are looking at the Clearview for both of our's. The wife's trike windscreen is too high for rain.

That is good news.
Take this opportunity to back away from the tools for a day. You've had some bad luck yesterday. You need a break.
