ANOTHER DO NOT DO THIS

Hate it when that happens. What about a Dremel? Too late now, but in case you wanna buy another one and try it again. After all, it's a man's pride and his need to conquer the elements.

Now you can practicedifferent methods and drill bit sizes, on the 2 broken pieces. When you get the next windshield you should be an expert at adding holes.

I have to ask. Were you using a plexi/lexan bit? They have a differn't angle to them and speed is also important. I used to always sweat my but off when installing aircraft clearveiw cockpit windows some were as expensive as $2k, one little miss drill and they were garbage. Mike
Maybe you can use that crack for an alignment aid......now if you could just get a perp. crack, you would have a "bullseye"..........got one of those donotdo's with super glue a few weeks ago...
my question too, what's that stuffmade of?
I would not expect a new acrylic to crack like that. older uv damged stuff, yes. you weren't doing this when it and the shop was real cold (below 50 degrees for us FL boys) were ya. I've cut down my oem sheild two times, (about8.5" tall now) the height is right but by cutting from the bottom the upper curve has caught up with my three pocket wind shield pouch. knew that would happen but wanted to find the right height before ordering from someone. Ireally like the looks of the Clearview with the recurve and even have them in my favorites. having second thoughts now. based on their web siteI really expected something far more durable. have you contacted them to see if they will help you outby meeting you halfway or something?
fyi for drilling this kind of stuff and sheet metal, those step bits without fluting are the only way to go. those dang twist bits are just too unpredictable.
