Default Gps usage??

For those that use a GPS do you look at the map or depend on the turn by turn audio? The reason I ask is I'm upgrading my hk radio, one option is a head unit that allows me to put my iPhone inside the radio and maintain full functionality to include my Garmin app. The second is a head unit that has a USB connection on the back, I would keep my iPhone perch mounted but have control via factory radio controls. I like the idea of a clean look as option one, I lose visual hence option 2.

I look at the map for turn by turn. But I'm on a road king, and I dont wear my helmet a lot so blue tooth is not an option

I like the screen for the additional info - not just audio turn instructions. Items like distance to turn, distance to destination, altitude etc. Not sure what the IPhone provides though

The Garmin app is identical to the stand alone units.

No Bluetooth it is plugged into the radio and comes over the speakers.

I currently use just the map, but at times the screen is very difficult to see due to the glare. The Garmin app may just be a viable option for me as well as I already have the hdpdplus.

I always have the gps running on highest detail and quite often will venture off on any side road that looks like fun
