I have about 3k now on my front. Still looks brand new. Rear only has a couple hundred on it after the original had a run-in with a humongous nail. (Thank you HD for having tire/wheel coverage available to purchase, and for stocking the Michelins so there would be no hassles). That tire was only a month old too.
I have over 10000 on mine most of the miles are long distance riding Ft.Lauderdale FL to Rochester NY and back twice this summer. And not even half worn! Balanced with Dyna Beads.
These are the best tires I have ever run 60 MPH in the rain and not a slip. The groves in the road dont grab and take you where they go. You dont feel most tar snakes. They stick in the corners too (will have to replace florboards if I'm not careful) , cant say enough GOOD about these tires.
Another good point is a pair is about $50 cheaper than Dunflops.
Solo rider 38Lbs rear 36 front. I Have had 4 friends that have also put them on and have the same opinion.
I have the commander, not commander ll, on the rear for about 7,000 miles now. Runs good down the road, smooth, it's wearing good BUT! In the rain watch out. Doesn't take much brake or angle to get her sliding. The E lll on the front appears to be much more forgiving when wet. My bike is an 07 flhp.
Put the Commander II on about 1000 miles ago with Dyna beads and love them. First trip out I went through a horrible rain storm bad enough to get cars to pull off the highway and I never slipped at all. Great tires.
Been on both Dunlaps and Metzler, put a commander II on the rear and what a difference, smoother and a softer feel. I found myself in an Az monsoon and the thing stuck to road great. Went to order my front and wouldn't you know it....national back order, I can't wait to see how it handles with a matched set.
I wonder how much improvement you feel is just because you're replacing a worn out tire with new? I noticed a difference when I swapped wheels on my two bikes with 4k and 8k on them.
I dont ever remember the bike tracking so well with even a new set of Dunwhops
11,000 miles on my CII and it has performed wonderful. Takes turns, rain, grates, tar snakes and whatever else i throw at it. My state inspection guy says i still have about 2k left on the tire. I have never gotten more than 6k out of any MC tire i have had. And i have dogged this one just like every other rear tire i have ever owned. No consitant air checks, Pull the wheel up from first to second and all of the cornering i can handle.
