Default Windshield loose

I purchased a new 8" Ultra polycarbonate windshield from Long Ride Shields the other day. I removed the 12" stock Harley windshield and the T-Bags 3 pouch windshield bag. I decided not to install the T-bag with the LRS windshield. When I tried to tighten the windshield screws, the middle screw would allow the windshield to rock back and forth when pushed at the top. The outer screws would clamp tightly but needed to be tightened very snugly. The middle one needed to be tightened really tight to clamp the windshield securely. I reinstalled the T-Bag, and the windshield screws tightened up without having to use too much force. My question is, has the T-Bag caused the fairing to deform which is causing the problem? I bought a new rubber windshield gasket from Harley and may change that and see if it helps. The screws were always installed lightly, only enough pressure to hold the shield in place and keep it from rocking. I did a search and could not find any information. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

Master Chief.....that middle screw is a pain. It almost sounds like it may have been cross threaded and isn't snug on the windshield. I did that to my sg. It was as tight as i could get it but was cross threaded.

I'll bet those little brass inserts have pulled out some. When you use the pouches it is taking up the slack room.
Look and see if those brass insets are still flush wth the plastic fairing they are in.
The replacement inserts are about $1 and screw in. The stocks ones are pressed in at the factory.

Thanks for the replies. Is there a way to remove the inserts without breaking the plastic ? If I have to remove the outer fairing I may as well go ahead and install the new style inserts so I won't have to worry about it again.
Thanks again.

I have three of those suckers that don't tighten up anymore. From only removing the bat wing once.

Thanks for the replies. I really appreciate the feedback. You would think for what we pay for these bikes Harley could get their act together and fix this problem with the inserts. It's not a new problem by no means. I guess they are more interested in the stockholders than the consumer. I could have asked the dealership about this, but would have gotten the deer in the headlights look and been told they all do it. Or been told it would void my warranty if I did the repairs myself.
Ride safe.
