I had a set of custom ear plugs made that roadies wear. They're accoustically neutral so all they do is reduce the volume and don't distort sound. They're great for concerts and loud bars too. They're made of clear silicone so they're pretty close to invisible.
I swear I can hear the gremlin bell when I wear them. I don't put them in for quick rides around town, but if I'm on the highway I have them in. You really can hear better with them and the wind is not ripping into your ears.
The molded types that are custom made to your ear are the chit !
You wont loose your riding buddy's cause they rode off while your fooling with those
El Cheepo's that take so long to put in & expand . I Lost many riding off to quick that way
Marked R & L , easy 1/4 turn and you have a tight fit every time & there easy to find in your pocket .
I got mine @ a rally from Big Ear . The $60 bucks is nothing compared to what we all spend on our bikes . Pay now or pay later !
Of course I use Beer Mugs, unless they just leave the can....
This is a stupid poll......!!
You should do one on something more important, like wearing ear plugs. I wish I had worn them over the last 38 years of riding. Especially the bike I had with straight pipes. I try to use them now when I'm gonna be more than a short hop around town.
Motrcycling and the noise that comes with it (both engine and wind noise) easily damages your hearing, PERMANENTLY!
I was wondering how many riders use ear plugs and how often do they use them. I hope most riders use hearing protection every time they ride but let's find out.
Please answer the following poll question:
I wear ear plugs when riding
I voted always, because I always did when I road my RK Custom with my half-helmet. BUT, since I've gotten my Road Glide and switched to a 3/4, I haven't had the need for plugs at all...
On my RK, though, it would kill my ears if I didn't wear plugs and went over 50. It was all about the wind noise as opposed to the engine/exhaust for me...
