One of the first things you need to remember is that 99% of the parts people either
1) arent smart enough to be a mechanic ( Im not bashing parts people, just my observation over the past 20yrs for HD dealer parts help)I know some parts people that are smarter than the mech's at the dealership they work at......
2) Have know Idea what the HELL thay are talking about.
And this is based on my sole experance...I once had a dealer part man (swore he was a mech just arthritis prevented him from still doing it) tell me My 05 FLSTCI had the eng idle temp mgmt system......

The parts guy had never heard of the "clunk" when you put a harley into gear? He must have been a new hire from the Honda dealer and/or not ride much.

After a long look I finally found a 100% synthetic oil, Motul 7100 4T 20W50 Engine Oil and gotta say it has made a world of difference from the HD sludge I was running.

More power, quieter running (now it sounds like a sewing machine!) and in the gear box is where it shines with smoother running and shifting, lots better.

It's worth it.
