If you can keep the Dyna and get the new bike too that's the ticket.

Waiting is no big deal, there are no shortages of bikes and you might get a better deal if you wait.

After a year you will know whether for you it is worth it to keep it.

You almost always lose on the trade in value compared to what you paid and put into it.

IF you are going to trade it to help buy the new bike, then sell it privately, you will always do better selling it on your own.

I would love to have two bikes for when you want to just run around town or the bar or a gig or something.
I bet if you keep it at first you will determine whats good for you.

Its hard to say a lot of people have more than one bike and love that option, others like me have one at a time.

I also have kids so I would keep the Dyna in case any of my kids wanted to learn to ride and get their license and stuff.

My wife rides too so I actually want to get her a street bob I Think, so another reason would keep it.
I would keep it for a season and go from there.

I have a Heritage [ wifes bike ] that I can ride but always take my Ultra , but the second bike was nice when mine was in the shop for a motor rebuild but the only regret I have is not getting a Ultra years ago

I want the trunk, though I'd like to be able to remove it. I wanted the light bar, passenger floor boards, and lowers. Also, I like the crash bars around the saddlebags, since I like to have lots of storage, and that's one more spot to mount bags!
One of my favorite features of the SG is the windshield, and I'd probably have to get one.

Thanks everyone for your input!

I have an 02 Heritage along with my 11 CVO SG. The Heritage is pure old school Wide Whites Ect... A totaly different ride. Do I ride it enough, No. But I still love it when I do ride it. If you can pull off 2 bikes do it, so long as it's not A burden. That will give you bad feelings towards both bikes. you can always change your mind later and let it go. Once it's gone it's gone.

This is a very personal decision that you will need to make for yourself. I just went through it. I bought a 2012 Heritage earlier this year. I take long weekend trips with a couple of freinds and the heritage was a comfortable bike. There were some things about the bike I didn't like so I started thinking about touring models. When I decided to buy an Ultra Limited, initially, I was going to keep the softail. I himmed and hawed for a week or two about keeping, trading or selling the softail. In the end, I took my financial lumps and traded it. Glad I did. I could afford to keep it. I decided private selling was not for me so I dropped the keys off and rode the ultra limited home. No looking back and, had I kept it, no way the Heritage would see ANY rode time since I've owned the Ultra. Also, I put a detatchable tour pack bracket in case I wanted a sportier ride occasionally. I am yet to remove the tourpack...use it evry day.

I had a Sporty and bought the RK. Eight weeks later I sold the Sporty when I noticed I wasn't riding it and given the choice I always hopped on the RK.

I'm told that when a friend-of-a-friend washes his Ultra he purposefully lays the bike down on each side so he can wash it easier. Not even a scratch on front or rear crash bars. I bought an Ultra for similar reasons as you. I never got around to the quick detach on tour pak though. Use it too much. You know you can get a large pizza in that thing!?
Lots of options on windshields. That little SG one doesn't do anything and few people like it. You want something in between. For example, mine is an 8". Anything you like about an SG can be done to an Ultra.

I sold my 1988 Sporster, which I loved, 5 days before I bought my new Limited. I have zero regrets. I was worried that I would miss the Sporty as it was built up to 85 hp and a nice ride that I owned for 16 years, It was time to move on!
