Well here is my experience. I was a member of this forum for a long time before getting my bike. I've read just about every little problem that every little member has had over those years. The ESP made sense to me as it was peace of mind should any of those goblins show up on my bike. I also got the tire and wheel warranty (which includes no deductible).

And as some of you may have read, already used it three weeks ago to replace a month old tire that had a nail in it. No charge for the tire. No charge for the labor. And they also paid the $150.00 tow bill.

I love my ESP.

Oh, btw, my bike has Monster Round slip-ons on it, and a few other things that I've added over the past 15 months. Nothing was ever said about the ESP being voided because of it.

True, if the bike is never ridden.

My '10 Limited, however, just turned over 76k and the ESP has paid for a new starter, transmission rebuild due to bearing failure, compensator assembly, and the hotel/meal bills while I waited for repairs on the road.

Wish I could say these newer bikes were failure-free but, alas, it is not so..... ESP has paid for itself about 3 times over, near as I can tell, and I still have 3 more years to go.

My dealer & the rep knew I had a stage one & repaired my scissored crank. I was told the one had nothing to do with the other. Personally, I would keep it. As others have said it will probably pay for itself if you have a decent dealer. JMHO

Some people like the ESP, some don't and there will be arguments to the end of the earth supporting both ways. It is to each his own and what risk you are willing to take, however, never lose sight of one indisputable truth, the insurance companies always make more than the customers, if not, they will fail and go out of business. So yes, some make out like bandits and get more than they paid, but for every one that does, there are several who never have a claim. Insurance companies insure based on statistical data and that data says many more people will not have a claim as compared to those who do. They are no different than a casino letting you bet that you will win. Yeah, maybe a few, but watch all the losers leave and count the difference ...... it's simply a fact of how to make money and insurance is one of the biggest gambling operations going.

sell it back! At least here in CA you can cancel the contract for a refund minus proration for the months since the initial in service date of the vehicle. Check with your state laws.

They do make a gamble. They gamble that the majority of people who own their bikes are not going to ride them very much. Sadly they are correct. something I never understood. Why have it if you are not going to use it...

Lets see, I have an older bike, but my warranty has replaced
1 engine
2 radios
motor mounts
swing arm bushings
a starter, and clutch basket
fuel lines in tank
3 stators, and regulators
fuel gauge
trans case
5th gear bearing
primary chain
faring brackets
and I am sure that isn't all, but I got the bike used, and the motor went right after I got it.

It's not that they are not going to ride them, the statistic is on the failure rate in general. I know an awful lot of riders, including myself, who ride 10-20K per year and have never had occasion to need a repair that would have been covered under warranty beyond maybe flat repairs if you had the tire option. That said, many are willing to pay this for piece of mind and that is ok, someone has to pay into the insurance companies to cover the losses of those who get to collect.

I used to work in auto dealers & learned that aftersales is good for the dealer & not usualy for the customer. Now I know that some luck out with thier ESP because they have problems that get covered that otherwise would cost them alot to fix, but for most it is just an expensive piece of paper!

Like others have said before. Some will like it, some will not.

IMHO if you plan on keeping your scoot for a long time, not a wrench what so ever, etc, etc. these ESP maybe for you.

There are still some HD Dealers that will sell these plans at a discount price. I know that I got mine for 25% less then what my local dealer would sell it.

As far as Dealers working on my sled, so far I have had two dealers work on mine and it has paid for it's self, over!

Too many things to go wrong on a full touring rig for ME. It works for me.
