I put in 75/90 gear oil in tranny, think I messed up. I have an oil leak just the tranny for now. seems like it is comeing from the pan. I changed the o-ring just hoping but still bad. would a bad oil pan gasket cause the tranny to leak. should i drop the pan and change the gasket. or could there be another cause. wondering if the 70/90 could have caused to much pressure and blew out a seal or gasket. or crap i doun't know.
thanks guys
unfortunately its a stream draining down the floor. not just a few drops deffinetly something that is not good. thanks 2black would have made my day
I can't imagine what could be causing a stream of oil to be leaking from doing a simple oil change. Wish I could be more help but I haven't got a clue.
I agree that just changing the oil is not going to blow out a seal or gasket.
Either the o-ring is leaking or residual oil is dripping off the frame.
Also check the crossover pipe hanger bolts behind the oil pan.
Just throwing this out but is it coming from the shifter shaft seal... I changed up my tranny fluid to syn and sure enough the shifter shaft seal started to leak
