I have a 04 RKC and the only thing I've heard is the Cam Chain Tensioners are hard plastic, they will sometimes get brittle and break, there are two recommended upgrades, install improved stock tensioners, or go to a later style that uses a different arrangement, can't think of the name for it.
I have a 1999 Road King that i bought as a garage queen. I heard the horror stories about the MM fuel injection and the cam chain tensioners.
Well, the injection has not been a problem and the tensioners are cheap and easy to replace if you don't opt for the upgrades or gear drives. i am planning too but so far not been a problem. I love my bike and plan to do 100K plus on it. There is info about the MM injection on this web site and it is not as doom and gloom as many make it out to be although it is not as dependable as the delphi or a carb, but it can be rebuilt...
The older bikes had better wheel bearings, a forged crank and can go many miles with soime minor tinkering.
I have thought many times about upgrading but really see no reason at this point and the 99 will keep on rolling!
