Default Tuning The 120R

Installed the 120 this week and was at the dealer picking up a couple of things to finish it up today. Talking to their dyno about a safe starting point and he's telling me how lean Harley's base maps are. I had already smoothed a bunch of the lower rpm VE tables which I made sure richened it considerably.

Now, I'm still running the stock head pipe, gutted and CVO slip-ons with 1 3/4" Fullsak baffles so I'm thinking it's not going to be able to breath as well as I want so I don't want it to be a blubbery mess so I left it as is for the initial start up.
It would barely idle! The base maps are extremely lean! I've added fuel four times now and every time the bike responds positive to the changes.

Any of you 120 owners had the same experience?

btw, even with the restrictive exhaust, the 120R has it all over my stage 4 113 I had last year.

A quick and easy way to richen it up with the SEPST.
Go to the "tuning set up" and raise the "engine displacement" at least 10 cu. in.
After my dyno tune, my "engine displacement" is at 138 cu. in.

Good point; I'm trying to be careful in both directions

Not saying I haven't tried this before but as long as you're not above the VE table's max percentage (I'm not close), it's just an easy way to richen the tune.

As lean as the base map from Harley is, I'd say running it up to 138" would get it in the ball park.
I did not like all the flat spots throughout the rpm range (only taken mine to 4500 rpms so far) so I tuned them out of it.

Surprised at the difference between the base map front and rear cylinder VE tables; looks like you're working on two totally different engines. I duplicated my front cylinder to the rear then raised the rear cylinder 5 full points on the VE table.

The bike now idles smoothly (as smooth as 266e cams can) and I can pull away from a stop just as easy as with the stock 103.

Two other things I did not like about the 120 base map:
1. the idle was too low; below 950 rpms. I want mine right at 1000
2. temperature/idle settings were kind of screwy; I guess that had to do with idling the engine that low.

During the "break-in" of my 120R w/Dragula exhaust I used the SEPST for 2/1 exhaust. I did notice a few flat spots around 3300-3500 RPMs, but I perfromed various Smart Tunes and they smoothed out. I didn't have any issues with idle, but I had to adjust the cranking fuel at various temps.

Yes, there was a huge flat spot right before 3500 rpms. Then another just before 4500. I took care of those yesterday but I know I'll have more to do once I figure out which way to go on exhaust.

How loud was the Dragula before you supercharged it?

I cannot stand an excessively loud bike. I had a Boarzilla on the 113 and it made riding the bike a painful experience so I will not do that again.

Here's a video I posted a while back..before the Procharger. At normal cruising rpms 3,000ish its not too bad, but its as loud if not louder than the Boarzilla.
