Fuel injection
Hey guys
I am relativley new to the Harley experience and am in need of some advice. I recently got a great deal on a 2000 Ultra Classic and am doing all the cosmetic upgrades. I'm now looking at the stage one upgrades. I've read multiple posts and am still a bit confused. Does anyone offer a stage one intake for this bike? I now understand that I have the Magneti Marelli system, and this is a limiting factor. If someone knows who makes a system for this bike I'd really appreciate the info. I'm also wondering if any tuning needs to be done after a stage one upgrade.
Thanks

Sure, Harley does, see 29489-99C here: http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US
The MM EFI was pretty primitive by todays standards, but there are fuel managment products that work with it, others will probably chime in

I have a 2000 FLHTCUI i purchased in July. Was just to the dealer who installed a PCIII and dyno tuned it. Great improvement, but needs to go back for some idle adjustments. i guess the MM systems are a pain sometimes. Be prepared to spend a few bucks to get it right.
For stage 1 you don't need anything. I'd put the parts on and take it easy for the first few run cycles. Then see how the bike acts. Seeing as though the mm fuel injection is primitive you may need some form of enricher device. I would keep it as simple as possible to avoid possible running issues.
Keep your eyes peeled for someone selling the take off from a newer bike. Ideally you need everything to have the benefits of fuel injection.
It might be easier to just put a carb on if you plan on really modifying the engine. If it's just pipes and breather I doubt very much you will encounter any issues.

Depends what you want out of life. I owned a 2000 FLHTCUI for 6 years and never had any problems or complaints with it. Of course, I left it pretty much stock. If you don't want any problems with it, don't monkey with it.
