Thinking about some chrome wheels this winter during the down time, although I ride most of the year as long as the roads have no snow on them, and the fastest and cheapest way is chrome exchange with no parts left over to try and sell at a later date. What are your thoughts and experience on chrome exchange.I did a lot of this when I built my 69 FLH in 1979 but the chrome exchange in 1979 wasn't that great.Opinions please.
I didn't do the buy it now, it saved me about 30 or 40 bucks for front and back. It took them about a week to have the wheels setting at my front door(west coast to east coast). I mounted them that same day and packed up my wheels in there boxes and shipped back to them the next day. Seems like shipping was about 50 bucks. With in 10 days they had credited my core charge back. I would absolutely do it again. I've also done lowers and brake calipers with them in the past and had the same results with those transactions.
i highly recommend ricks plating from ebay, im running their fork. i did an exchange and the customer service is amazing, i recieved my first package from them and somebody had opened them at post office and stole my forks out of it. it happened 2 stops before it got to me because the last stopped recieved the box opened and had been cut. long process an fight w usps. i did not have insurence (my fault) i contacted ricks and explained what happened. he immediately said he would send another set if i would pay shipping for them and i offered to send my stock ones back and not get the core charge. he said no i would get my money back for the core just pay the $22 for the shipping. he was not obligated to do anything becuase his tracking number showed delivered to me. i couldnt ask for any better service from him. will use him again
I'll just throw this out there, if you are interested in a set of the Contrast Cut Knuckles Harley wheels (stock on the Limited Ultra) I will have a set for sale real soon. Brand new take offs, $1000 new in the HD catalog, $500 + shipping - that (I think) is less than re-chroming.
