Nothing fancy, just good quality thick leather, gusseted shouldered and cuffs, strong zipper, and quilted lining. Trouble is I can't just go buy a new one of his, seeing as he got it at Americade before I was even born. So my question is what are my fellow riders wearing? I get a nice discount at my HD dealer, so I'm thinking of checking out the HD jackets. I also have a leather guy nearby that sells FIRST leather gear (FMC) and few other brands. Anyone have any input on the HD stuff? Well made? How does it hold up? Same inquiry applies to other brands. So lets here it...

I have a leather hd jacket love it and for what I wanted I could not find anything better. I needed a jacket that was going to be warm but also not to heavy because of neck problems. And I didn't want to buy one online because you can't try on

I bought an fxrg jacket because it has a heavy linner and is warm, but I have a few dislikes besides its china origin. The zippers are total crap, hard to pull and the main one started pulling apart when done up, and why the hell does it need to unzip upwards as well as down? I think the leather is too soft. Also it could use vents in the sleeves its pretty warm for summer riding. But its the warmest jacket Ive worn. I have yet to see any other brands with linners as heavy. I think I will try a fox creek next, maybee my fxrg linner will fit in it

For those who like Leatherup - a word of caution:

Personally I avoid doing business with companies that get an "F" rating from the BBB. I dare say if you are able to try one of their products on in a store and it fits you'll probably (maybe) ok but . . . this is just one of several sites that throw some doubt on your chances.

I have a leather jacket made by ( Brooks Leather ) this jacket was bought in the early70's and it still is in fantistic shape. wear it all the time and weather conditions. had to replace the front zipper this year. and this jacket will last me many more years.
(American made......check out there web site.) the jacket i have is the classic style old school jacket. and looks like they dont make that exact style i have .

I bought my from my local HD dealership. It has a zip out lining and zippable air vents. Works well for me.

My Fox Creek came with a removable liner. Has the air vents, front and back. Has lifetime warranty. Nice thick american leather. Top of the line quality and made in the USA.
I cant think of any reasons not to buy american made.

Look up Walter Dyer Leather. Local leather shop, made in the USA, and quality is second to none. And you will save yourself some money!!
