Touche Bro. Nice jackets. Twice what a Fox Creek costs but they sure look nice. Love the vintage look.

I'm sure there are a lot of nice, quality jackets out there. I've got a first generation Harley FXRG and I love it. It's about 12 years old. If I were in the market for a new one the FXRG would be at the top of my list.

Seems like the two most popular vendors are Fox Creek and Leather Up. Fox Creek sure seems expensive. I checked out a used one Craigslist but the sizing didn't work.

So I went with Leather Up. I couldn't really get the exact style I wanted. It's been sold out for months. So I went with this and for the price I couldn't be happier. When I compare it to the Fox Creek, it really seems equal or better. If weight makes a better jacket. Leather Up won in my comparison.

I was so happy with the jacket I also ordered a set of chaps as well.

As I mentioned earlier seems Leather Up is so popular that alot of the stuff is sold out.

Let us know what you go with.

Thanks a lot guys. Your replies and recommendations are greatly appreciated. I got it narrowed down to three possibilities, but I'm leaning heavily towards the Fox Creek. I do wanna go check out the one HD FXRG jacket I like first though.

Fox Creek

HD FXRG

or last option if I go the cheap route:

I've had my First Leather Gear Jacket for about 5 years. It's a good riding coat 5oz leather, came with removeable liner and has 4 YKK heavy zipper vents.
Great for early spring, Autumn, and Winter riding.

If you do go Leather up, get a size larger. They run small. There was also a link to a China HD back door vender. Same clothes but, direct from the manufacturer.

Yeah, 15 yrs ago the HD leathers were made here. Now made in China. I have a 10 yr old jacket and vest both HD and USA made. Great stuff.
Now you might as well buy the stuff you see at bike weeks instead of HD.
I also have a First Leather for cold weather. Have it for 3 yrs now. Great jacket for the price.
Fox Creek is a good choice for quality stuff.

i have a first generation FXRG jacket from HD. It has a liner and has served me well for approx 10 years. IT has been through a crash and came out very well, i have rode in rain, blazing sun, sleet and just about every other weather condition that could be thought of including light snow.
I could not think of a better jacket to purchase. If it gets hot, take the liner out, if its still hot, unzip the built in zippers and let the air flow. It comes with a built in kidney belt and has been a great jacket. Multiple pockets, breathable and best of all, i bought it on ebay for less than 1/3 the price of a new one.
The one quality that has declined over the years is it no longer sheds rain water like it use to and treating it with a water proofer has not helped.

So when it is time for me to purchase another one, I will go with an FXRG jacket again. I think the 4th generation is out now and from my understanding they have a built in material that makes a rain suit non essential.

I'd get one with zip in liners, and one that vents well, also armor in the arms and shoulders. HD makes really nice jackets, pricey but will go the distance. My Dad is still using one from 2000. THis is just what I'd do.
