I'll piggy back the thread. How much weight rating should you have on your tie down points? THe D ring setups I was looking at for putting in the floor of my utility trailer were only ratted 300lbs. I was a little suprised. I am trying to not put just screw eyes in the floor. THe D ring setups I was looking and flip flat for low profile when not in use. I have side boards on the trailer so tieing down to the top rail is not an option.
I would try to stay at least above 1500 lb....as most times you need the hold down is simply holding upright but....when someone cuts you off and you take the trailer for a ride through the ditch you most likely will be exercising the rating of the tie down. Check these out.

This is what you want................and they sell backing plates for underneath. I use them in my enclosed and also on a flatbed that I carry a small tractor on.
Trailer has 2x10 flooring so those would not work unless I cut a recessed spot in the wood.
All you need to do is bore a hole and you are set to go. I have done 2 trailers with these type tie downs and they work great. I got a sheet metal shop to cut me some 8 x 8 x 3/16" plate steel for the backing plate.
