Show a 900lb breaking limit. Is this enough?
If they are re-enforced, and you are using a wheel chock, I'd think that'd be fine. just my opinion though.

I always go around the down tubes and the crash bar and have never had an issue with damaged powdercoat on the frame.

I have side boards on the trailer so tieing down to the top rail is not an option.
I would try to stay at least above 1500 lb....as most times you need the hold down is simply holding upright but....when someone cuts you off and you take the trailer for a ride through the ditch you most likely will be exercising the rating of the tie down. Check these out.

This is what you want................and they sell backing plates for underneath. I use them in my enclosed and also on a flatbed that I carry a small tractor on.

All you need to do is bore a hole and you are set to go. I have done 2 trailers with these type tie downs and they work great. I got a sheet metal shop to cut me some 8 x 8 x 3/16" plate steel for the backing plate.
