Don't crap where you eat. It would be different if you really needed the job, then yeah you do what you have to. If I worked at a dealer I would be like my old man. He owed his soul to the company store

I am close to retirement and am working part time. I have thought about a part time job with a local dealer but decided not to mix business with pleasure.

I am not sure what you do for a living, but you should always move up and never back down of the $ ladder and position ladder. That being said, the position ladder might give you a slight set back $ wise, but if the position for 3-5 years will give the goods for a better position,as well as $; then sometimes it has to be done. In my position, I need a PHD and that is no lie, director of an international school, but to get here I had to bite the bullet. I dont have a PHD. I am sure it works with experience and knowlege about the job, as it does everywhere. If the job is feasible and you go from Jack Daniels to old times, maybe it might be the gig, or if your happy right where you are; stay. Nothing like waking up in the morning and dreading going to work!!! I dont.

I worked in the parts department for both metric and HD dealerships and I enjoyed it. Sure there were days when the job wasnt much fun but that happens everywhere. If you are looking for a place to work with great benefits it probably isnt the answer but if you want to work somewhere that is generally fun and where you can meet other riders it can be good. Only you can decide if the job change is right for you. Parts positions generally pay a base plus a commission on sales so while the base salary may not sound like much, you can write your own check with your sales performance.
