It is definitely personal preference but I put the red DD's on my '10 SG this year and absolutely love them. I always had trouble seeing the stock gauges and these have cured that in all conditions. Also, don't let the $$$'s scare you because if you do your homework, you won't spend over $900 for the full 6 gauge set and you'll get rid of that idiotic air temp gauge as a bonus. :-)
My Dakota Digital gauges came in yesterday for my 2014 Ultra Limited. The installation instructions seems easy enough. Where i am a little apprehensive is screwing in the oil temperature sensor sender. What is too tight and what is too loose and how easy is it to strip the threads?
Second question: when the old plug is removed should i expect a lot of oil pouring out. I know to be prepared for this but your thoughts?

Thanks
I've installed at least 5 of these sensors on various bikes I've owned. The sensor just needs to be snug and apply the white thread stuff to it. Regarding the oil leaking out, most people including myself usually install the sensor when performing an oil change.
Be very careful torquing that sensor in. It's very easy to strip the threads. I've never used the white stuff either. If your quick very little oil will come out and you can just top it off. Your going to love those gauges.
Due to past profession i never wore bi-focals which i am use to. My eyesight is just a little weak when looking at the stock gauges while riding. These might just be what the dr ordered.
The sensor has a brown sealant already on it. Not sure what type this is but i am guessing it is suitable. I like waiting till the next 10 k which is 3500 miles away. Last question: if i hook everything up, run the wire to where the sensor will be (leaving enough slack) can i run it without hurting anything if it is not plugged in. Then at the 10 k have the sensor added and plug it in then.

Got them on my '07 street glide. Love them. Running the blue and it goes with everything else I've done. No issues with sunlight. Not sure about cost that others have referenced, I got mine about 1.5 years ago off of eBay for $800
