A puff of smoke when starting either cold or hot would indicate a bad valve guide, and judging from the appearance of your darker plug you have oil slipping by either the rings or guides on that cylinder. I agree that a compression test would be a good idea, and since it's a TBW bike you'll have to remove the AC and hold the throttle blade open with a block of wood or something else that won't get sucked into the intake. If you have ACR you'll also have to disable that by disconnecting the TCA connector on the induction module.
