Default SS 106 big bore

Has anybody installed the ss 106 big bore kit in their 96 engine.I was talking to an independant that does my work about installing midrange cams in my 09 ultra and he suggested this kit.Is it worth the money? Are there any problems with doing this ?I don't know a lot about engines so i sure would like to have some input from you guys.Just trying to get more passing power when bike is loaded down.

The jugs are rounder than Harley jugs so they look different on the bike. I went with the Andrews 54 cams.

Yeah but for the money, the S&S kit is a pretty good deal. i've got S&S 106, TW-555 cams, ported and polished heads, and a .030 head gasket. im close to 10.5:1 CR and im pulling 105 hp and 123 lbs/ft

my HP would go up but the rev limiter kicks in at 5500. i havent had a chance to flash it

Having no other riding experience other than on my bike with a 106" I love it. Mine has Redshift 575 cams and the heads were done by S&S. It runs better than I have confidence in trying to ride. I have seen the black marks it will leave when the previous owner had it. Has plenty of power down low and will scream all the way to the limiter at 6200ish or whatever its set at.

the new S&S jugs are supposed to be closer to the factory look, the older ones dont match up so good. You can bore your stock jugs out to 107, there are quite a few vendors uot there with kits, ready to go, fuelmoto is one that comes to mind, I peiced together mine because I already had cams. There was somebody that just came out with a 107 kit in socal that looked pretty good and was around 800.00 with cams and gaskets, using your cyls.

I have a new S&S 106 sitting in a box while I wait for my heads to get done( different set I bought). I've pulled them out plenty of times to look them over and they look almost like the harley ones, once installed I don't think anyone will be able to tell. Its a good option for the price if you don't want any down time having to send off your stock juggs to be ported. I'll have almost the same set up as Stupid rope, 106, TW-555 and a stage II set of heads with the .30 gasket.

the new style S&S jugs are very close to factory. the only difference is the fins are beefier. the S&S logo is small and behind the pushrod tubes
