Default Help with Winterizing

Hey All,

Just moved from Cali to Virginia, and winter is creeping up on me here. I have my Street Glide and the wife's Sporty to winterize. Both bikes will be kept in a closed garage during the winter.

I plan on getting the oil and tranny fluid changed prior to winter. Other than a battery charger, what other things can I do to get the bikes through the winter?

Thanks for any and all info! I would like to do as much as possible without the dealership, but if there is something that is recommended to do there, please let me know.

-Skippy

"Winter" storage in Virginia, really? Heck, even in Michigan I can ride now and then and its never really stored. I used to live in Virginia, and yes you get cold and snow occasionally, but I'd be riding nearly year round.

I live in Minnesota, where the season has just about wound down. I use seafoam as a fuel stabilizer. I have had too many fuel issues' with supposedly good stablizers not working at all. 4-5 oz of seafoam and top off with 91 non oxy premium and you will be good to go.

Agreed. No need to "winterize" when you can get out & ride comfortably throughout the winter.

I live in northern Nevada and ALWAYS winter my scoot around January 7th'ish and don't even think about a Spring ride till, oh, about January 9th'ish.

My advice would be to move again if ya have to do more then a trickle charger. But thats me.

This is my plan too - and put mouse traps around it just in case. Maybe a cover or cotton sheet to keep the dust off it.

I don't think you have to worry that much about it if you ride it every week or so. But that being said, if you are living in some area like the Black Mountains and it is freezing through out the winter I would do just as they say above but also put it up on something like a jack to get the tires few inches off the concrete. Something like a pallet would work too as long as you have some kind of air gap of at least a few inches between the tires and the concrete floor.
