I bought a 2011 Street Glide with the Phychedelic Purple paint. It had been sitting on the showroom floor for a very long time and the dealer needed to move it to make room for the 2012's, so he gave me a price that i couldnt refuse. I figured that i would ride it for a few months to see if it would "grow on me". Well it didnt. I saved up all summer and now i will send it to the painter while it is down for the winter. The problem is that i have no imagination or design skills. I am thinking that i want to go with 1 solid color, but i dont want to have a bike that looks just like everyone else's, and i dont want it to be boring. Does anyone have any idea's? Have you seen a color on a bike and thought "damn that looks badass!"? I tend to prefer darker colors. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I have not design talent either. If I were in your shoes, I think I'd look at some of the colors they use on the CVO bikes and get a painter to try to match them. I kind of dig the metallic black/browns and the wicked metallic blues from the last couple of years. I think I'd have them do some ghost flames or something also or at least some cool pinstriping. I'm subscribing to this thread to see what others come up with.
I bought a Dyna that way once that was Violet Pearl thinking It wouldn't bother me but it did for a long time...especially with everyone telling me 'Nice Purple bike'....got old. Learned the hard way if it catches your eye at the beginning, it's always going to.....
I find it interesting that so many people like the browns. I know it's personal taste but brown is like the worst color on a bike I can think of. It just reminds me of old Chrysler mini-vans. Sorry. But hey...
Street Glide you say...unique...how about a good old fashioned candy cranberry. And I like the candy blue like cbears said.
My wife had a purple Deluxe and then decided to give up riding. I decided to keep the bike and did the usual mods (pipes, apes, stage 1, etc.), but I couldn't get used to the purple and eventually had it painted (orange & black). Glad I finally had it done. Good luck! SJ Ron
I think a Candy Red would look good. Just no flames or crazy pin striping. An accent stripe is fine but some of the pin striping I see is waaaay over board. Agree on the purple though, gotta go.
