Watching these videos and practice and more practice on weekly basis will improve your skill beyond your imagination and have some one video tape you while practicing and correct your own mistakes. Its very possible just have to spend few hours a week don't worry if you lay it down few times engine guard will protect it just need to be careful about your safety.

Subscribed to this. Counter steering and riding I can do. THIS takes it to a whole 'nother level.
I could do a run to FL for the class. Maybe March/April.

hhhhmmmm!

This police rodeo is from my neck of the woods. It's the Palmetto Police Motorcycle Skills Competition held yearly in North Charleston, SC.

The thing is, that's not even the guy who won the overall rodeo.

The skills you see if you get a chance to go to one of these rodeos is amazing.

And, Harris is right..... eyes and head up, looking where you're going is key.

I feel that riding an HD sitting forward and over the bike like that of a motorcop has a lot better handling characteristics, especially when cornering slow or taking curves at high speed.

Great videos.

Even though it's counter- intuitive, that's the way to do it.Your arms follow your head and eyes and that's where the bike goes,at slow speeds if you look down you go down.Learned from the Pensacola Ride-like-a-Pro course.

Along the lines of "Your results may vary", the rodeo guys are confident in the surface on which they ride. We, on the other hand, operate in the "real world" where there may be gravel, sand or spilled oil or antifreeze in the area where it would be nice to be able to whip around like the pros. While I can't do anywhere close to what the rodeo guys do, I can maneuver fairly well UNTIL some surface contamination comes along. Then I need the usual 40 acres to turn around.

Put simply, all the practice in the world won't compensate for adverse conditions. Keep your expectations sensible or you will get lots of practice picking up your machine.

I have a blast doing stuff like this and I think I'm reasonably good at it, but it takes years of practice to be the best. Fortunately, I have time

And, who knows if a particular person really has the technics down to a point to really teach them properly.

Anyone know of a place and/or person who teaches these technics? Especially classes in northern California?
The is a RLAP class in California, at a school adjacent to LAX. But, it appears the instructor is out of the country at this time.
Here's the link to Ride Like a Pro West Coast

Investigate places that teach the MSF course. Many also offer intermediate and advanced classes.

I am currently in a 6-week course with a precision drill team. It's all slow speed stuff, perishable skills. This week is the last class. It's good practice and fun too.
The instructors all ride Wings, but the class is half Harleys.
These guys can ride. They can get 6 Wings into a 60' x 60' box weaving all over, wheel to wheel.

I usually attend the state police rodeo every year. Pretty impressive riding skills on display.

@btsom: this class takes place in an old dog track parking lot. Uneven surfaces, gravel, pot holes, whatever. It pays to practice with conditions that mimic where you ride.
