Question on Dynotunes
When dynoing a car it is done in the 1:1 gear ratio in the transmission. Everyone runs their bike pulls in 4th gear instead of 5th gearwhich is 1:1. Bakermentions that a 1:1 gear is always the most efficient gear, typically 99+% efficient. Meaning, for every 100 ft/lbs of torque that goes into the transmission, 99ft/lbs of torque comes out of the transmission and goes to the rear wheel.
Whyaren't our bikes dynoed in 5th gear? Wouldn't this provide a more acurate measurement of what our engines are producing?

In the auto chassis dyno HP/TQ testing, with the more advancedload control chassis dynos,some program the dyno to allow a 300 RPM/second sweep test so itmakes negligibledifference what gearis used. This way if someone changed drive ratio, tire diameter or even put a given engine in a different chassis, the numbers would stillcompare.
