An inch is good, I've lowered my softail (rear only) 2" and only bottom out on those dam speed bumps.
You can put air shocks on yours, and play with it.

It made all the differance in the world with my reaching the ground as well as moving the bike around.....I didn't go as elaborate as many and went with a lowering kit that has served me well.

This type of kit doesn't give satisfactory drop in an already low bike like the SG.....but for a RK it was perfect to the point it wasn't necessary to move to the second hole on the kit.

I have Ohlins at stock length. I have never been able to flat-foot my Glide, but don't see the need to either.

with lowering blocks you risk bottoming out and tearing up your wiring harness .
The cheapest way to get lower without changing your suspention geometry is to have your stock seat modified buy MeanCity Cycle way cheaper than a new low seat .
I had them lower and narrow my seat several inchs and add a little memory foam . this is super comfey i have rode several 500+ mile days NP.
This mode is super thrifty total cost was just under $150 that included shipping both ways .

this mod might do it for you ..
i might suggest get some tall riding boots and have a cobbler make the heel taller and sole thicker.

I also have 11" Bitchin Bagger Drop shocks . NP ride great .

i raised my floorboards for more comfort les chance of scraping .

Also a kickstand exstention kit $30 from HD helps get it reached .

thanks for the replies folks. I am thinking to leave it stock and not compormise shock travel. Good call on the seat mod if needed...I have a mustang vintage solo and a slight shave might be the ticket. Still following threads on JRI 12s as a solution. I'll ask Howard next time i call him.

Every inch counts.
