I`ve decided to drop & level the fender on my 11 RK. The most appealing kit I`ve seen is from TWR Baggers Plus. So I sent an email. No response & it`s been 2 weeks or so. Anybody know anything about them or got a phone number ? None listed on their website. Thanx,Don.
for many of us... visually the fender looks best if the arc of the radius follows the same arc as the disc , wheel & tire.
dropping the stock fender onto the tire can give a "squashed look"- as the eye follows the arc made by 3 things and then sees the fender following a different arc-almost describing a right angle.
for others this makes no difference- it depends what your eye sees.
in the photo above, the forks are also dropped about an inch.
( stock, the bottom of the cowbells is just below the top of the fender, once you know what to look for you can spot a lowering kit)
functionally, you do want a minimum of 3/8" clearance between the tire and the fender- different brands of tire of the same size rating may be slightly different in height and width.
for some riders, the fatboy fender works well ( check the rear ducktail for clearance on the oil cooler or crash bar) or the H-D street stalker fender. both of these use adapter blocks for the mounts.

i was thinking about the street stalker fender, until i found out it was plastic. there aint no way i'm putting a plastic fender on my bike! theres already enough with the trim on the rear fender.
Thanx for the replies. It is absolutely a visual thing. I think the fender tips "up" too much in the front as well as sitting too high. The TWR kit has that "jig" for drilling the rivets. It is a major reason I`d like to use their kit. But no response from them is not getting me too thrilled to spend $$ with them. Maybe they are busy.or having IT trouble. We`ll see. Don.
I personally really like the look of the "slammed" front fender. Hell !..... I even like some of the current rock-n-roll !
Guess I'm just a crazy ole bastard ?
But I don't care.
