I've ridden a couple of touring bikes with lowering kits. Rides harsh. I went with the 12" shocks. Got about 3/4" lower than OE shocks (13") but downside is still a harsher ride over the OE shocks. Looking at going from pneumatic shocks (OE) to custom set-up by Howard at Motorcycle Metal.
I just got that lowering kit from eBay for 22 bucks. I lowered my sg 2 inches and it worked great. The ride is a little more bumpy, it do sent even bottom out with 2 up. I did have to up the psi on the air shocks just in case it bottomed out.

How much clearance do you have between tire and inside of fender? Have you ever scraped during a hard bump. I put the Progressive 940 on so I wonder how compatible that would be with my shocks.
Tucci what brand did you use? also what the level of ease with putting these brackets on? Also are you an Arizona rider?
I have that same kit, $25ish on Ebay. It is VERY easy to install, should take 20-30 minutes tops. I am over 260 pounds and will rub the tire on on the 2" setting. It is fine 1" down. I have noticed no difference in ride quality. Well worth it IMO.

So which one are you referring to? can you toss me a manufacture name. Im a pretty big guy as well 6'4" 235.. So thats good to know
I have the LA Choppers lowering blocks. Lowers the rear 1". I also have 13" Ohlins 3-3 shocks. I used a 1/2" steel spacer (with 1/2" longer than those supplied with the lowering kit, grade 8 bolt), top and bottom on both shocks, to get them to clear the blocks, i.e., otherwise the rebound damping **** on the bottom of the shock was interfered with by the lowering blocks.
I chose the LA Choppers kit because it didn't change the shock angle from stock. The idea behind the 13" shocks, with the 1" lowering kit, was to get full travel shocks for ride-comfort, while retaining the lowered stance of the bike. I've had this setup for 1,000 miles now, and so far, so good. BTW, 70 bucks is a good price on the kit.
