Not my intent at all to kick a sponsor. I was wanted to convey for LRS or any vendor is to post value added information or comparisons.

Example:
In our independent tests comparing the KW 6.5 to the LRS 8 for a rider between 5-8 and 5-10 we have wind tunnel test proven that buffeting and air flow is cut by 25%.

Dude, you kicked the sponsor. A very well liked sponsor in this forum. Not event 15 posts. You also didn't bother to look a the information LRS added to the thread. If you go to their website they do have a VERY good video on how to pick shield heights. Which happens to be EXACTLY what the OP was asking for. I've talked to them on the phone about picking a shield. They were VERY helpful and not pushy at all.

You will be hard pressed to find someone on this forum that shares your views on LRS.

Point noted. I respect your view and those on the board. I agree the objective was met on their site as to their opinion on how to pick one that fits. My question really is when they state "Our design has been tested and proven to maximize the amount of wind deflection while allowing for the least amount of drag" how was this tested. Posting real world results with comparison proof would go a long way. To many times products are just created to look good and that is the extent of testing. Oh and this makes 16 posts =).

I think a lot of what you are looking for comes out of reading the many windshield threads on here. KW for example is most worried about performance and aerodynamics. Brian Klock and is wife race the flats among other things. LRS makes shields like that as well, but they are more focused on a bigger flip to keep air away with the lowest shield possible so the shield can be out of your line of site and still block wind. I'm sure there are companies that are only concerned about looks.

I doubt any company out there is using wind tunnel time to test the competition, but I could be wrong. It's even debatable how much help a wind tunnel is b/c real life riding often presents very different situations. It isn't very often that clean air makes it to our bikes in real word situations.

We do not have any comparative test results that we can release. However we believe our product to do the best job of any of our competitors and have used and continue to use many different shields of our own design along with competitors.

The forums have proven to be an effective and positive way to receive feedback and reviews from our customers who we eagerly speak with on a regular basis. Our goal is to provide the best product at the best price and we always strive to help anyone with questions, no matter what company they end up purchasing with.

We don't mean to offend by posting. We will also continue to post because a lot of people have come to us for answers and we are happy to provide the answers that we can.

As for fitment, we've found that height and weight ratios with known product matter very little. The best fitment is down while sitting on top of your bike and shortly after you've ridden and assumed your normal riding posture.

Following the instruction in our fitment video, available on our website, has proven to be much more effective in finding the right shield than any attempt at a height average.

Thank you for your questions and posting. If you have any other questions we're happy to help.

LRS

P.S. Thank you all for the positive feedback!

Default My two cents!

I have a '11 Street Glide w/ a stock seat. I am 5'9" w/ a 30" inseam. I use an 8" Freedon Shield in dark smoke. I see WAY over top of it (maybe 3-4"). I can put my hand in front of my face at 70 mph, move it up and don't feel any appreciable wind until my hand is at the top of my helmet. Can hear the radio fine and could not be happier. That shield has great lines and even at 8" looks sporty on the Glide. Nice fit and finish, too.

While I understand the need to keep saying "look at us, look at us" these forums are here to share information not an area to provide a sales pitch. I would like to add that your comments would be appropriate if you could add value to the discussion. For example I would like to see some facts and comparisons of products. For me honestly sells products, pushing your product on all threads gives off a used car salesman feel. To be honest in past threads it has pushed me to look at the others first. To add yes I am also really shopping for a shield.

What I would really like to do is get some wind tunnel time and do a full review of LRS, Klock Werks, HD and the others. I think facts would be good for everyone.

LRS, everyone says they are the best but no one ever shows proof of results that can help customers compare. I challenge you to show your own test results as I am sure you have tested the others.
LRS offered to help the guy with his w/s question, not pushing to sell him one. Is there something wrong with that????

+1!!! I run a LRS and am VERY happy with it. They are GREAT folks to deal with and you'll get your shield in a couple of days! I ride an Ultra and use a 10" shield, 2 inches shorter than the OEM. The OEM was right in my line of sight. This shield is shorter and does a better job of carrying the wind over my head. PLUS .... they're a forum sponsor. ALWAYS a PLUS in my book!!!

Ride safe!
