Max voltage should read?

The 2 reading measured at the battery would be the 12.7 with the engine off and the 14.3-14.7 with the engine running. I have measure mine that way and get those results. Idling low or fast makes little difference. As was stated, the gauge reading can be just about anything. Mine is generally high by a volt or so. if I started getting different reading, I will check at the battery form correct ones.

My Limited's gauage reads 14v but my buddies SG reads 16v. He was concerned so we put a meter on both bikes. His is 2v off and mine is dead on. Both bikes are 2011 and had the same voltage at the battery at the same rpm.
