I posted this in the Southeast region too but I thought I might get answered faster here.
I don't trust the dealerships around here. I use to like Colbach HD in Morristown but I have not been there in years and it is a little out of my way. I would love to find an indie that does great work and knows how to tune.
I do all of the regular maintenance like fluids and stuff like that but I want to put some cams in soon and it would be nice to have someone other than the price gouging dealership to install tires.
Custom Cycle Corner, Roger Snapp, Hes been around for years and can handle old to new. His son has joined and is pretty much up on the latest and they are installing (or maybe have) a dyno...Oly
I hate being jerked around by the dealership. I called and got a quote on installing a new front tire got $220 out the door so a couple days later I take the scoot down and a different guy is telling me that is going to be $315. I go no it's not are you joking me right now? He tells me well the tire is $180 and then there is an hour of labor. Well the other guy told me the tire was 20% off so they fixed it but I was just amazed and wonder how many people just pay that.
Good to know. Glad I happened on this thread as I've been wondering about local Indie shops as well. Thanks!
That being said, if I do have to interact with a dealer, Smoky Mountain H-D in Maryville gets all of my business. You still have dealer prices, but they are great folks there in my experience. They serve a pretty good lunch at their Stinker's BBQ restaurant/bar too.
