Whats going on guys. I have a 2010 FLHX Street Glide. I am looking at upgrading the cams. I am 300 lbs and sometimes ride a passenger. I take long distance trips. Sometimes riding 1000 miles in a day. What is the best cams for my 96ci motor. Most prolly will say do the big bore upgrades., but realistically what kind of prices would i look at at who is the BEST out there.
I already have the stage 1 air cleaner and vance and hines black widow slip on. No header pipe yet.
An Iron Butt sometimes. Hmmm. I would suggest either the 255 the 254 the 203 the 222 the 21 the tw-6 the 37 the 55 or 57 or maybe a 48. If you do head work, then another group of grinds will work better. They all work better than stock. It's not how far you ride, but how you ride and your objectives for where the torque band will work best for you. Then you start the narrowing process dependent upon how far you want to take your performance upgrade. You need to get rid of that cat before you start anything else.
IMO Fueling has the best cams out there but they are mighty proud of them. Having mine replaced this week but still up in the air what I am going with. Kinda thinking about the S&S Easy Start.
I put a Andrews 26H at about 50k miles...works great for me...if i would go with another one i probably try the 48H or the new woods 222...Very safe choice is a SE 255.
Those 222's from Bobby Woods are looking pretty good! I run a pair of S&S 551 EZ Starts in my 96" and am very happy with them overall. My starter and compensator thank me every time I fire it up.
The 255's have gobs of grunt but run out of puff just a little earlier than the 551's and the 222's. Not much but enough so that one should feel the difference out on the road.
My 551's start running out of puff at ~4800 and by ~5200 they are done.
