I just ordered a set of 12 inch mbb for my 12 flhx, second guessing myself on the size,i am 5 9 and think the 12's may be too tall,i still can change to the 10 inch,i know if i do this my fairing mirrors are worthless, for those of you that went through this dilemma what decision did you make and are you happy you did.
IMHO, the PYO bars with the sharp angled turns don't look natural on a bike that is anything close to stock in appearance otherwise. Again, this is my own opinion, and am not trying to get flamed for days on end. For me, WO bars look more natural. I guess that is why Baskin Robbins has all of those flavors...
I am planning to put the 12" monkey bars on mine and I am 5'10". Everyone says go one size taller than what you originally think which is my plan. I originally was going to get the 10's. I am sure others will chime with something more useful than this but just my .02
A buddy of mine put the 14 inch monkey bars on his i am 5'8 and when i sat on his bike they fit me perfect i just recently ordered a set of 15 inch hill country z bars for my ultra good luck in your choice of bars and Happy thanksgiving
Contrary to what a lot of others say - I'm 6'2", and I put the 10" monkeys on my StreetGlide and they fit and feel great. I've heard a lot of other guys say "go bigger", but I just couldn't disagree with it more. To each his own.
6'1". And went with the 10's so I could control the bike the same as with the stock bars. Works perfectly for me and I feel I have more control of the bike with the 10's versus any taller size bar.
Stick with the 12's. You can always pull the bars towards you to make them feel shorter, but you can never make the higher. You wont be disappointed. There are no better bars for a bagger than yaffe's bagger bars. Period!
the bad news is that there is no real "answer" to this issue... it's all about prefference and opinion...everyone is different... like i can't figure how the guy posted he is 5'8" and thinks his buddy's 14" bars fit him perfect... just like he probably doesn't understand how, at 5'6", i think my 10" bars are perfect for me.... the math doesn't add up...but he likes what he likes and i like what i like.
For me there were 2 main issues in deciding on the bars... #1 the feel, of course most important...and #2 the look. I don't really like the look of the bars sticking up over the fairing (and with that goes having your hands unprotected from the elements ) so the 10s were the right choice as far as looks goes, and it just worked out that i am, uhhhh ...less than tall, so the fit was also great for me. My hands are up and out from the stock bars and they feel great. This mod completely changes the whole attitude of the bike from the minute i sat on it.
NOW, the good news...no matter what size you choose, the Yaffe bars are WAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY better then the stockers....
