I have the Harley Hammock seat on my Ultra, and recently added the adjustable backrest kit. The issue I have is the hammock is less comfortable now. I think the backrest makes me sit a bit further forward which makes an uncomfortable pressure point on the back of my legs.
Looking at the seat it looks like the mounting kit for the backrest causes the hammock to bunch up a bit and I think perhaps is causing me to sit a bit more forward than normal, causing the discomfort.
Anybody else notice this? Is there a fix? I saw a thread the other day that talked about the CVO backrest kit being designed for the hammock, but I can't see a special CVO backrest kit in the catalog. Is there such a part?
i have a hammock off a CVO that i bought from a friend of mine & i noticed it bunches up too when i put mu adjustable backrest in. i did see a thread about drilling holes in the bracket for the backrest bracket that mounts under the seat. i have not done this yet due to the fact that im just too lazy lately.
I have the same setup and if I recall when I installed the adjustable backrest there was some (albeit small amount) of adjustment room that you can wiggle the mounting bolts to get a better fit. Try loosening up the bolts and see if you can relieve it a bit. Mine is comfortable to me anyway.
Mine was rubbibg front of the seat slot and pushing me forward. I moved backrest back by drilling two new mounting holes about an inch in front of stock holes and added a spacer plate at front mounting hole. This was just a flat plate a couple of inches long with bolt holes an inch apart to bolt to both parts of stock mount. Seems to fit OK now. Sig pic is prior to hammock seat.

You have to put one item of the part you want into the shopping cart, then go to check out to get the part number.
Then just remove the part or exit the web site.
FYI: If the part is not listed in the list below the pictures, it's a CVO part that you can't buy, but I'll bet the backrest is buyable.
FYI: I do not think the CVO backrest is the adjustable one though.
Thanks for all the responses. I definitely like the adjustability of the backrest I have, so I guess I need to see if I can relocate it back an inch or so.
Is there perhaps a how-to on this somewhere, or would anyone that has completed the mod post a few pics?
