Question Seat Issues

Hello all,

Had my stock seat from my 2000 EG done couple months back with double layer memory foam at MCC. That week I went to the outer banks which is around 6 hours for me. Seat was much better than stock, but still not what I would consider all day comfortable. Bought a Hammock recently which is better still, but after a few hundred miles break in, it's not much better for the long rides for me. I'm 6ft. 210lbs and feel like the buns are on fire after a while.

For the folks who have used MCC and still had butt burn on the longer rides, did you have them do anything additional....more foam, denser foam, gel pad? Alan said they could "tweak" the seat, but I want a little more detail...maybe from users here who have been this route. Keeping stock means that all my upholstery matches since I have the older button look. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing Alan and company, great guys and appreciate their support here...just looking for options. I'm leaning toward letting them have another go or using an Airhawk....or both!

Any thoughts from the high milers?

You could always take it you local upholster dude and see if they would work with you, or sell it.
That's what I did, as I was not impressed with the seat that I had them do either.
Minimalist at best.
Not bashing either.

My adivce to anyone that is contemplating this seat mod
is to catch the "seat mod-ders" at a rally, ride it a few days and then if you're not happy, take it back to them and have them make it right.

Seats are subjective and as such what might be the cat's meow for some, may really suck for others.

I use corbin on 12 road king love it. Some say they feel to firm but after all day they still feel the same as in the morning.
also use a corbin on a touring bike and wont change to anything else. My opionion but we all have them.

For Long rides, the first thing I do is take everything out of my rear pockets. That eliminates any
pressure point to my bottom side, that makes my SunDowner seat work best for me. JMOP

Just tossing out an idea, have you tried a sheepskin cover? I have one that helps a lot. It's also quick to add or remove in mid ride if you want to change out. Alaska Leather has some nice stuff not too expensive for the quality.

I had MCC redo my 09 seat too. It was better than stock but still not right for me. Bought a Corbin dual tour and been happy ever since. No more butt burn.

This may be your solution. Folks that have 'em swear by 'em.

You can try the band aides but the only real all day solution will be a Russell Daylong or the original Daylong - Rick Meyer Saddles. I've been on my Mustang Supertouring and it was a big improvement over stock, but this spring I'm changing to the Rick Meyer. Totally custom built off the Moco seat pan.

Disclaimer: Every butt is different.

But after 35 years of riding, I'm found that firmer is better on long rides. I love Mustang seats because they are the right amount of firmness for me. Not trying to convince you that Mustang is the one for you. But consider going firmer on whatever seat you prefer.

I've toured all over Europe and could NOT have done it without the Harley Road Zeppelin seat on my 08 Ultra. Best money I've spent. Before that, 45 minutes to an hour was all I could do...now all day...only stopping for gas. I tried 3 other seats before that one...nothing like it!!!

Hope this helps.
