Take a look at the pictures. I have a 12 FLHXSE3 with 11,763 miles and the front tire is cracking/splitting around the side wall next to the weel. The tire looks as if it has at least 5,000 miles of tread life still left. Do you think I should get at least a prorated replacement? The tire is a D408F.
Check the air pressure in your tires. That could be part of your problem. I would get the bike towed to the dealer and see about the replacement. It can not hurt to ask, but I replaced both tires on my bike at about 13,000. If they do prorate your tire, there will not be much life left in it.
I have 2 bikes with the same problem, Dunlop has a 6-7yr no mileage limit warranty.
Take it to dealer IF they have never dealt with one tell them to call Dunlop and wala free/new front tire.
Clif
Also Dunlop says cracks are just cosmetic so ride it into shop unless you have tow truck money to burn. I live close to 80 miles from dealer and RG had close to 500 miles on it before replaced.
over 11000 miles on a tire and you can get another 5000 out of it? wow. I have never, ever, gotten more than 7500 miles out of a MC tire in 40 years.
On my 09 SG I go 12,000 out of a rear and 17,000 out of a front before so I don't think it's that unusual. Maybe because I do a lot of traveling and solo 99% of the time.

I keep a pretty good eye on my air pressure. Don't believe that to be the problem.
I was wondering if the abnormaly high temps we had here in the midwest could have contributed to some excelerated heat aging of the rubber.
