I'd dump it. OR, maybe it had 4 oz too much to start with. OR, maybe that's normal.
At this rate you should be a quart low at 7200 miles. I would change oil at 5K miles and forget about all this.
+1 Yeah, and I though I worried about **** too much ! Just Ride the hell out of it, it can take it ! That's another reason all the Cops and Outlaws ride Harleys !....and my crazy nephew.
I gotta ask, how do you know it used 4oz? Did you drain it completely?
when i changed oil 900 miles ago i rode bike about 30 miles and got it hot came back and topped it off till it was right on the full mark, check it a couple of times hot after that and then have'nt looked at it till today when after i rode it and it took 4oz. to bring it up to the full mark again.just kinda took me by surpise.hopefully it will get better with more miles, was just wondering what has been you guys thoughts?
The only time I check mine is the first time I use it that day. I have a digital dip stick. I don't worry about keeping it at the full mark when hot. Anywhere between the add and cold level mark is fine with me. I have never had to add oil to any of the 4 Harley's I've had. For what it's worth I use syn3 or amsoil.
maybe your spittin it out your air cleaner,a common problem from over filling .try keeping it around the half way mark on the stick, thats where i run mine and check it while its hot.

never seen any oil in the air cleaner even took the cover off to look.gonna ride the ***** off of it today.i'll just keep an eye on it .i know my evo don't use a drop between oil changes that's why this gonna took me by surpise, anyway that's for all the thoughts.
A Twin Cam most likely will NOT like the oil level completely at the full mark. Instead of adding oil next time, just ride it, and find where that bike likes its oil level at and from then on, just fill to the 'new' full mark you have found. After an initial usage of oil to drop it down a bit, the bike may not use any more oil, but you will THINK it is, because you are filling it back up to the full mark constantly.
Your bike can run on two quarts of oil just fine (dip stick DRY!), so quit worrying and, instead, find that 'new' full mark and be done.
I run mine at 3/4 full and it stays right there... even on the 120r I have right now. Like others have stated, the half way mark is really a good thing.
