New Kuryakyn Zombie Levers, Now Clutch won't Engage!
I've searched this forum for the answer, but I'm still very confused.
I replaced my levers on my 2012 street Glide, everything went fine til I tried the clutch....
I tightened the adjuster in front of bike, but still cannot get my clutch to ENGAGE, I put the bike in gear and try to push it with the clutch lever pulled in but it still is obviously in gear because the bike will not roll freely.
When I replaced the levers, the only thing I messed with is the cable adjuster in the front of bike. WTF am I doing wrong? I have not tried starting the bike and putting in gear yet, kinda afraid to do so with the clutch not working! Help!!!
Adjust primary as in the Youtube vid and the other forums? My problem seems opposite of everyone elses, with slippage , too much play, etc. The levers fit nice, really no play, that I know is wrong & I need to loosen the adjustment cable, but I really didn't want to open up the primary being green behind the ears mechanically.
If this is the problem, I guess I must go all in ***** out!
Will I need to replace gasket & any fluids in this primary? (no service manual yet)
I did read in another post something about because the bike is cold, real cold, there may be a sticking?
No, There really is not any play, pretty tight.
I went from loose to tight without finding a spot where clutch actually worked...
I kinda tightened it hoping tightening would cure the problem, it did not.
Sounds to me like the ball engagement in the tranny cover is out of position, loosen up your adjustment lock nut and extension nut. Using 1/2" & 9/16" wrench, crescent, channel locks, pipe wrench etc. and screw it up with your fingers, then jiggle the hell outta the upper and lower clutch cable. Hold the clutch lever in with one hand and as you screw the nut back down you will feel the lever moving out. Keep turning the extension nut back down till you have a couple pubic hairs play in the lever. It's a very simple setup, don't freakout and over think it. Your not going to hurt anything.
Theres not alot of cable to shake being mostly in the Fairing for the upper cable. Though I did pull on the cable a bit to get slack to replace the clutch lever.
I'll give that a try tomorrow morning. I think I can handle that adjustment repair....I hope! LOL! My fingers are crossed & will try this 1st (being the easiest so far).
I am really appreciating all this feedback. Thanks
