jswerve: That is not correct with the new CRF exhaust. They are very easy to tune since the baffles were updated by Cary.
I have installed a ton of exhaust on people bikes and i will say my choices would be
1 CFR Great sound great quality... did I say great sound
2 Rush Big Louie Deep sound not as loud as CFR but great quality great price
3 RCX remind me of Rineharts but better chrome and quality better price
4 Fuel Moto Exhaust Deep sound on the quiet side but price and quality are great.
All 4 of these companies have had great customer service
By the way I have CFR on my bike 2011 Street glide 103 with Power duals Stage 1 intake, PCV. with these mods +12 HP and +14 TQ. From stock I can definatly feel the power difference.
I pulled the trigger on the 4in Rush Big Louies. Great deal from a site sponsor.
I swear by my CFR's. I removed my CAT and they sound great. Stage 1 gave me some extra power. I will change the header eventually but for now I am happy. Its all about what you can afford and what you are willing to live with according to where you want to be in the end. Good luck in your search because the only thing that matters is that in the end you are happy.
I like the looks of the three pipes I mentioned. None of them are cheap. But I'm not the kind to change them once I've got 'em on the bike, so I figure I can live with the cost to get what I like.
What I like: the CFR looks great, sounds great.
I had Samson true dual fishtails on a Heritage years ago, and I do think they robbed me of power, so I can grasp what was said about the tuning...in that not everything cranks up more juice. They looked perfectly retro on that bike, though. But no fishtails this time.
The vids and claims on the Super Trapp or Kerker Stouts make that one seem like a winner for bolt on power gain on a stocker...and it'll be awhile before I get around to swapping out the header and adding a Power Vision, if ever. So that might be a good option.
I want some that look like a million bucks, sound great, and don't hurt performance, even if they don't help too much.
I've searched for info on these here, but aside from the CFRs, few have chimed in on the others. They are both on the newer end of the spectrum.
I have a 2013 streetglide with cfr's,dresser duals,intake change and a sepst.
Bike sounds awsome and runs great.. The new Cfr's can be easily tuned.
I had a 2-1 fatcat.Performance seemed to be ok.The standard baffle fatcat exhaust note didn't agree with me so i sold the pipe.
Peace and Prayers
i've had the Super Trapp 4" for awhile now and really like them, you can see my set-up, and they do have a mellow sound when cruising and a good bark when ya twist the wick, as for as the extra hp and torque well i can't really tell, but it did seem to have a little more get and go. i don't plan on going any farther and i still have the CAT in so i'm happy with it and it fit's my riding style well.

Says who? Cary? The boys at Fuelmoto would disagree... That's all I needed to know. To each his own though, best of luck
Since when? The FuelMoto map for my stage 1 (FM a/c, PCV, "newer" CFRs w/stock header) seems to work just fine. Only issue out of the box was a little decel pop on 0% throttle, which they fixed by adding a little fuel. Haven't had it on a dyno, but the bike easily runs stronger and smoother than stock.
To the OP, you really should try to hear them in person beforehand. I went with CFRs because they sound unique compared to every other pipe I've come across. Definitely not the traditional Harley sound.

There were no issues out of the box with my tune.
Let me put it this way, I point blank asked them PERFORMANCE WISE would you go with CFR's or the FATCAT? They sad the CFR's would not perform as well. Again, I love the CFR sound but not the performance. If that's not an issue for YOU buy em. I can't do it I want performance AND sound. I wouldn't be happy leaving that performance on the table. Again, do what YOU like as I won't lose a wink of sleep over it I know I did what's right for ME.
To the OP, just make sure it's what YOU want after doing the research not having someone push something on you.

I learned a long time ago dont bad mouth a product if you have never tried it. You have never had CFR exhaust so dont comment on them. you want to tell us how great the Fatcat exhaust is then do that and move on.
