Default detachable passenger backrest lock

I picked up part number 90300047 for my 08 FLHX. No matter how I try to install them they do not fit. They seem to be wider than the stock latch. My only thought is to grind down the lip that the new locks have that the old latches do not. Anyone else here have this problem?

Thanks for any tips.

You too huh? I have #90300048, chrome, for my 2012 FLHX. Doesn't fit cause it's for Dynas and Softails. It has an offset to it that causes the latch to not line up. I'm returning mine this weekend for the right ones.

My back rest and stealth luggage rack are a bitch to take on and off to begin with. If you were to try and steal mine you'd probably give up in frustration trying to get them off.

My backrest and rack are very easy to remove. It does require two hands but both can be removed in less than 10 seconds combined. I am always worrying about it if my bike is out of sight for too long.

I went with these. They are small simple and affordable. I believe they come with varying screw lock variations. I know it is not foolproof but it will definitely slow down anyone wanting a quick ****** and run. This worked on my backrest and also on my detached tourpaks.

Hope this helps.

When I want to lock my detachable stuff I use black zip ties around the shaft of the part that gets pushed in, I read it on here somewhere.

It isn't going to stop everyone, but it will slow them down. If you want to take the stuff off, you just cut the zip tie and remove the stuff as usual.

I'm pretty sure I read it in here somewhere

Not a bad idea, I doubt people doing a quick grab and run carry cutters with them.

Lots of good ideas. I might try to sell the ones I picked up and go with another option.

The small zip tie works just fine for me.
Not even noticeable if you clip the tail and spin it around...

I had a problem putting the solo tour pak rack on my SG. I have to use dykes to get it on.

Side note: I use this to secure the Tour Pak which will also work to secure the seat. Takes the special tool to remove the screw. Takes one minute to install.
