I recently installed the Harley Fairing Mount for my GPS. It went fine, except for the pucker factor of drilling holes in my fairing. However, the placement of the GPS with the mount is totally UNSAT. It is too low, it doesn't face the driver squarely, and it is not adjustable. This is my solution. It requires the purchase of two RAM plates, and one RAM arm, total cost of about 20 bucks, YMMV. You don't have to go back into the fairing, just add the new pieces, and adjust away! Now the GPS is up even with the bags, hiding (for the most part) the ugly snaps from the removed windshield bag. You can adjust it for glare and best placement. Hope this is helpful to somebody.
Thank you! This post is exactly why I check this forum every single day. Just ordered my Ram mounts! Check out my pic. How annoying has this been? When it was installed, my first thought was, "Really?"
Once again, thanks for the ingenuity in finding a way for me to see my GPS and also hiding the snaps. This is great!
I have never found the position of the fairing mounted Garmin to be an issue. Have had mine for the last 10,000 miles and can see it fine. But for those that can't, this looks like a good solution. On the other hand, why not just mount on the handlebar or on the fairing with this mount without using the fairing mount?

Because by the time you find the problem you have 3 honkin' holes in your fairing. Anyway, those handlebar mounts look like Hector's a**hole.

Great write up and discovery. I've had the same issue but obviously not the same ingenuity as you. Will put this on the list for winter mods. Thanks for the info
