Newer bikes have a built in converter in the Tri bar LED. Power for all lighting comes from under left side cover on my SG, to the left connector on the Tri bar. On the right side of bike(left as you look at the converter, is another plug that feeds your run, brake, and license light.
Part #s for connector you will need are:
72130-04 12 way Qty 1
72189-04 Seal Pins Qty 4
74197-04 Secondary Lock Qty 1
74196-04 Socket Terminal Qty 8 (BUY SPARES!!)

I picked up a spare connector (it's a 12 pin) from a buddy of mine, and wired a new harness. Follow this Pin out and you will be fine.

Remove old light bar and harness.

Take new connector and socket terminals, along with wire and proceed.
Connector is numbered 1 - 12.
Pin 1 is feed to your RIGHT Brake/Turn
Pin 2 is feed to your LEFT Brake/Turn
Pin 3 & 4 is NOT USED
Pin 5 is GND
Pin 6 is GND
Pin 7 is feed to LICENSE LIGHT
Pin 8 is feed to LEFT Run
Pin 9 is feed to Right Run
Pin 10 is NOT USED
Pin 11 is GND for LICENSE LIGHT
Pin 12 is NOT USED

I chose a Yaffe Stealth 3 Universal Plate holder, Black, and painted it BBP, along with a 1 3/8" pop in hole plug, also painted to match. Also ground threaded bosses on back of plate holder down to pull the frame closer to fender. Using this frame will require drilling 2 holes for mounting. 1 3/8" plug was for replacing original wiring grommet, and also used as the way to route the License light harness. This plug requires a small hole for License harness.
Feel free to PM with any additional questions.
Thanks Joe for the text picture and the info- Love the look

love the look of the cleaned up rear with out the lightbar. are your lights flush or surface mount? would like to do this to my candy orange road glide. your route seems more wallet friendly than buying the cvo piece and having to lose the tri-bar.

Both Joe's and my lights are surface mounted. The LED's come with a rubber gasket. My lights have been on for almost 4 years without issues.

When I had my SG I had an idea that I was gonna try for a supplemental brake light.

I was gonna pick up a Custom Dynamics TruFLEX strip in smoke. They come in several lengths. I was gonna mount it on the license plate bracket right above the plate and wire it to use just as a brake light. The smoke color would make it hard to see when not applied on the black plate bracket. And it would work similar to a third brake light on cages. Maybe someone wants to take the idea and run with it since I won't be doing it now.

These strips can also be used mounted to the side of the fascia panels similar to how people install Custom Dynamics plasma rods.

I want to add that these LED's also came with a chrome trim ring that snaps on to the base of the light. I have not attached mine yet. I'm thinking that they look great without the trim. Lights were about $80 pair on ebay....Little more wallet friendly than the CVO set-up.

I have a question on Joe04's pin outs.. I get all of it except for the License Plate wires. It says Pin 7 is feed to License light and Pin 11 is Ground for License light. My question is BOTH License plate lights are BLACK. How do I know which is hot and which is Ground? Or does it matter since the light is a LED?
Thanks for any help on this!

I ran the CD LED strips in conjunction with the license plate frame LED's on my 09 SG.. run/brake/turn.

Good info on this thread.

LEDs have to be the correct polarity to work. Try your light with a 9volt battery to identify which is positive. Don't worry you won't burn out the led bulbs if you hook up the wrong way.

I just used a 9V battery to check and it lights both ways! The light bar is off the fender so nothing else is giving it power. What does that mean? Yeah I'm clueless when it comes to wiring...

Should be easy to hook up then! Can't get it wrong. Just a power and ground connection.

I have installed lots of LEDs. Even had a new bulb from custom dynamics that I had to reverse the wires before it would work. First time I have seen them work both ways.
