I bought my RKC about a 3 weeks ago. At the time I ordered a security kit from HD that locks the bags to the bike. The kit is about $250, and still hasn't arrived at the dealer. I might cancel that order if there' something better.
Now I'm wondering what other security options are out there for the leather bags. I like the idea of being able to remove the bags so I don't think I want to bolt'em down permanently, but I want more security than these little pins.
a couple of rubber fender washers too, or reuse the stock ones
the wing bolts are handy if you take the bags off to wash the bike, if they stay on all the time just use 1" bolts 5/16-18 thread
there are "security screws" in use by some. anyone who has a harbor freight nearby probably has bits, I do.
or they can often be levered with a screwdriver against the center pin and turned out.
the stock style pins can vibrate out on a rough road so replacing with sturdy hardware is a good idea, or at least run a shoe lace between the loops of the pins so that they resist rotation

I've had several new RKC's over the past ten years and have ridden all over, over night, parked in all kinds of places. Never lost a bag or had anything stolen from them. Maybe I'm just lucky. I'm insured. But for me, I wouldn't bother with all the bag security stuff. If they want it bad enough...they'll get it. JMHO
If they want it bad enough they will get it. No doubt about that. When I had my RKC I used the products from Brukus. After receiving them and inspecting them I realized you can get basically the same thing at napa. Ford fender washers I think and high security screws. You just need to carry the bit with you when traveling. Even with that set up bags came off and went into hotel with me at night.
I use the Brukus system on my bags - it's an inexpensive solution, a quality product, and I don't have to worry about my bags falling off as I drive down the road!
