Hey guys,
Im about to tear into the bike and wanted to see what you guys think on the mods while im taking stuff off to powder coat. I ordered a thundermax tuner, ordered two sets of pipes for an 09 touring (18mm bungs for 02 sensors). i have a PM fast air intake. My question is, do any of you have experience with 255 cams for the 103 on a touring bike, my buddy has a set laying around. Just wondering if i should throw them in there while i have the cam cover off. I have D&D fat cat 2n1 and a thunder header 2 n 1. Which pipes put out more horse power? thanks, look forward to picking yalls brains.
are adjustable pushrods needed? im taking off the rocker boxes to powder coat them too.
No you do not need adjustable push rods going thru the top like that.
As for the stock cams they are the same cams that have been used since the 96" motor has come out. Since you are doing a tuner I say put the cams in and change the inner cam bearings while you are in there too. I have the same cams waiting to go in myself....... Good cams for low end torque. Ask you tuner, if you are going to use one, which pipes are better, or should say, he has an easier time tuning.
If you already have them, and it is going to be apart... go for it. The HD site, and 1000's of threads here leave no doubt that it is an improvement over stock. I myself put one in last year and am very satisfied with the boost in performance.
Had a set in my 08 255s sert V&H true dules air intake got me 100hp n 100 Ftlbtq kicked in around 2100 held 45+ good all day runner around 100mph strong off the line faded on top end above 100 ride two up fully loaded / with my 2012 flhx went a little more rad woods TW888 cams port and polished heads polished intake roller lifters cam bearing upgrade oil pump up grade seprt stock header with cat removed 100hp 111ftlb tq and now have droped gearing to pull better should bump Tq another 7% match your cam to how you drive most of the time you won't be disapointed that way.
