This is probably the weirdest thing I have encountered working on my bike yet...
2009 Ultra... under the hood... I moved XM antenna for my Zumo there and installed J&M CB Module... The small light on the cruise button no longer works. WTH!
Bike starts fine, turn the cruise switch to the on position and the little orange thing appears. I turn the switch to the off position the lil orange thing disappears. I checked and double checked and triple checked all the wires (I might have missed a couple though), but I have yet to find out why the light on the switch no longer works.
I kinda figure that... just curious more than anything if I missed something before I put the hood back on. I even looked in the wiring diag, 3 simple wires all where they belong. I did not take the switch cover off yet, I'll let the dealer deal with it when I bring it in for service.
I think thats the way it should work it should turn green only when you (set) it it should show nothing with switch off.
The switch itself has a small light on it, which no longer works, but so far everything is still functional. I found it to be odd that it failed while it was in the garage and not on the road... I guess that's what I get for leaving it in the ON position from day 1, 3 years ago
If this had happened at the dealer you could have claimed they were incompetent, or just trying to rip you off and demanded they buy you a new bike.
As this occurred while you were doing the work I must conclude you should not be wrenching on your bike and are attempting to sell yourself unneeded parts.
The switch is 71637-98 & lists for $84.30, I'd just leave it the way it is since you know the switch is on by looking at it, plus the light in the tach also tells you it's on, I wouldn't spend the time & money on it.
