Default Gerbing heated gear question

Firstly, happy new year to all

I am kicking around he idea of investing in some Gerbing heated gear. I have done a fair amount of research and seen a lot of posts on this forum, so hopefully someone out thre can help.

The jacket liner appears to run the cables for gloves internally in the sleeve. If one opts for the dual portable controller the is clearly wires for the jacket as well as the gloves.

Does the glove connection from the controller still plug in to the jacket socket for gloves or do you have to run the wires separately, hence making the wires in the jacket redundant? Hope this makes sense, I am sure it will to someone who has done this

Thanks

The Gerbings jacket liner is wired for 2 separate circuits. Using a dual controller, 1 circuit will be for the jacket and the other for the gloves. I would recommend getting a controller mount of some sort. The one that Captain Itch makes is as nice as they get! Having the controller in front of you within a fingers grasp is a million times better than fumbling for it on a belt! The controller plugs into the bike (for power) and has the cables to run up to the heated wear. Single controller, 1 wire - Dual controller, 2 wires.

The jacket has 2 connectors for the dual controller to plug into. Thus, one **** controls the jacket and the other controls the gloves. The connectors from the controller are colored and match the color of the ***** so you know what you are controlling.

I don't have heated pants or insoles so I don't get to worry about those. My set up is great and I can ride comfortably for an hour or so with chaps and good boots.

Actually the dual controller has 3 inputs. One for the pants which in turn heat the socks or boot liners (highly recommend the socks over liners as I have both) , one for the jacket which does heat through to the gloves and the third is the input. Word of caution. KEEP ALL CABLES. I will be going to Gerbings Wednesday as my jacket connection to the gloves stopped working but I can still use the cable that came with the gloves. Think I will pick up a splitter so I can still keep heat to everything should this happen again.

I have both vest liner and gloves running off single controller, the glove lead is built into the vest sleeve and the two can be connected together inside the vest. Since I don't have heated pants or socks, I don't use the other connection.

You may want to continue your product review like I am, some complaints that the "New" Gerbings with the angled connector may not be as good as the "Old" Gerbings.
Just sayin'...

Ya don't need to use the wiring harnesses that came with the gloves with the liner because the liner is pre-wired for the gloves. The liner wiring will work with single, dual or no controller but ya may need a Y depending on how ya want to do it all.I just had mine on today. I have my first gear dual controller Velcroed to my left chap leg. Easy to reach/use and don't have to unplug every thing for short stops. It plugs into a first gear power port mounted to my left mid-frame heat deflector (also use it for the battery tender). I must say I really don't like how all the wires just hang out of my new made in USA Gerbings liner? On the old vest I had (blew out of the saddlebag last year) the plugs were stitched onto it. I'm gonna see if the wife can fix that?? or maybe more Velcro? Anyway It works great! Only way to really stay warm out in the coolness!

I have the following - new style gerbing jacket, pants, gloves and boot liners or insoles. They all work very well and I have to turn them down because I get so hot riding in 45 weather. The gloves plug in to the jacket and then into the dual thermo, the insoles plug into the pant liner and then into the dual thermo controller.
Def recommend the controller to prevent burns

FWIW since Gerbings relocated manufacturing back from China to the US I would hope quality is improved. If I were buying again I would order direct from Gerbings and make sure I was getting a US product vs made in China. Also I have 2 pairs of their gloves. One with the straight connector and the other with a 90. No difference IMO other than the 90 is easier to tuck up your jacket sleeve.

I ordered mine directly from Gerbings. I love mine. No problems at all.
