So my lovely wife got me stretched bags for Christmas. However, she made a mistake and ordered the CVO bags from Eastern Performance. I HAD wanted the full 4" stretched ones.
Now I'm torn- do I stay with these or return them and go for what I originally wanted...
Just tell the wife that what she did was awesome and that "WAS" exactly what you wanted,"BUT" they just came out with a different style that you would rather have and would she mind "IF"....
If you wife is such a wonderful woman as she must be for getting you the bags in the first place im sure she will just want you to be happy and have no problem with you exchanging.... I nice dinner and a movie might also help seal the deal!!! :-)
Some men have all the luck.....
Good Luck....
I suggest that if you haven't already, have a talk with your wife and explain that you DO like the bags, but they're not exactly what you wanted so if it's okay with her you'd like to exchange them.
Don't just exchange them and then let her 'find out' what you did. It would look like you didn't like her gift. (which technically is true, but you don't want to hurt her feelings over this).
exchange the bags for what you really want. If my hubby got me something for mine that wasn't 'exactly' like I wanted, thats what I would do...and him vise versa...sometimes the littlest differences make a huge difference! Im sure she will understand.

This seems like the best suggestion to me. If something does not necessarily need to be said to spare someone's feelings and can be done with subtlety plus a little kissy kissy, all the better not to hurt her feelings.
