Trailer wiring question.
I just thought I would post a follow up on the trailer wiring. I had to identify the wires the hard way, and found some mistakes and poor workmanship as well as identifying what wires were what. Here are the color identification for the trailer wiring, Red=Brake light, Green=Left turn, Yellow=Right turn, Brown=Running lights, White=Chassis ground. When I pulled back the carpet that hides the attaching hardware and wires, all they did was twist the wires together and tape them with black tape. Also the turn signals were dual element bulbs, so instead of using the brighter element, they took one wire for ground and one wire for hot, so it would only light up the dim element. I took the ground and attached it to the mounting screw and hot to the bright element wire and isolated the dim element wire. Now you can see the turn signal in bright daylight. I used butt connectors and shrink tube to clean up the wire connections.
Some more questions, Is there a standard location for wire to pin locations in the male and female plug, between the trailer and bike, like a four wire trailer plug for boats? I have posted pics of the plugs, and the trailer. It only looks finished but still has lots of work.
