Hey Guys,
This may be a dumb question but I ordered a pro one ball milled dash insert for my 2011 FLHTK and it will be here in a couple days. How do I get the stock insert off of the dash? I know how to get the entire dash off of the tank from an earlier experience running some wires under it but am not sure about removing the insert I am replacing. Thanks
I had my wife pry up a corner of mine with her long finger nails then I ran a light weight fishing line under the insert. Just a couple of saws back and forth with the line gave me something to easily grab a hold of and off it came with a hard pull. Cleaned up the old glue with WD 40 and a little Goo Gone. Just remember to wipe it down good with something like alcohol before sticking the new one on. They don't adhere well to oily surfaces..LOL
The insert is held on with adhesive. Borrow the 'ol lady's hair dryer and heat the insert up real good, it will pull right off and leave no adhesive behind
Used a heatgun on low - same as the hairdryer method when I was doing my Ironglass insert. Ted provided instructions. You will distort the insert so don't plan on going back.
