ok so here it is winter time cant ride wanting to upgrade my streetglide shocks but dont have alot of cash to do so aroound 300-400 bucks i know good luck right so i dont ride double mama has her own bike any good ideas or recomendations???
i have a 2012 SG and yes, the shocks suck! i took mine to the dealership and they were leaking down so they replaced them. But i still bought the Progressive 944-4020ut series. man what a difference in the ride and handleing in the back. all i can say is check amazon and eastern performance for costs, i paid $527 for mine, great investment. the regular 933's are like $460 they are the 944-4002 thats more for the one up rider. Good luck on your purchase!
I agree my 09 FLHX shocks sucked but I do like the ones that came on my CVO much better ride. Many threads on this topic lots on Ohlins, Progressive, etc. Take your time to do your research and find what fits your budget. Best of luck.
If your on a budget the Progressive 940 can still be found for under $500 since they were replaced with the 944. Or the HD Hand Adjustable are available for about $400 they are what come on the CVO.
I like the Progressive 940 or 944 better of the 2. Im running 940 for about a year and more than 10,000 miles huge improvement over stock. But as said before if you have the $ Ohlins or JRI are the best you can buy for true performance suspension

Personally I did alot of research on the forum about suspension. I read a lot of reviews from people that have had pretty much all the setups mentioned. It boils down to what you want out of the shock. If you want an improvement over stock and something you can replace and forget in a sense then the progressive would be a good choice. If you want the best which require a lot of setup and fine tuning than you can go with The JRI or Ohlins. I look at it as two different categories, the JRI and Ohlins are not for everyone. My two cents, hope it helps.
I put a pair of ultra classic shocks on mine. Got em for free off some one who wanted the SG shocks to lower his ultra. They work much better than the sg shocks. I have a friend who put the hand adjustable HD shocks in and swears by them. Let us know how u make out...
I have had the 940's for about 20K. I did switch to the lighter springs and still only need 3/4 turn of preload. Overall pretty happy. But I have not had the big buck stuff either.
I give them an extra 1/2 turn when loaded with luggage.
